Turkey says no to "Pooh"

If you live in Turkey and would like to watch Winnie the Pooh on public TV, think again. Turkey's public television station TRT, which is controlled by the Islamist-rooted government, has taken our hunny-loving friend off the air.The Turkish press reports that the show has been banned due to the character Piglet. Piglet, one of Pooh's main friends, is a pig, which are considered unclean by Muslims. Islam also forbids the consumption of pork.
Luckily for all Disney fans, Winnie the Pooh is still shown on some other television stations and the DVDs are available for purchase.

More religious nonsense and superstition. I want this to be an urban legend, but it seems it is not. I want to be surprised, but I am not.

Public TV and Radio has a greater responsibility to be for the public that paid for it, and that means not offending them. I do not believe I have seen nudity on public TV here(maybe in an educational show, but I doubt it), even though other channels can show it after a certain hour.
I can not believe the lack of understanding the above comments show. The next time you feel that someone else's religion is silly (and I am assuming you guys are Christian) repeat after me:
"My religion believes a married woman was a virgin and gave birth to a son who died and was resurrected, and that is rather a strange belief too, particularly to an outsider"
If you are not Christian think about how some of your beliefs look rendered into hard facts.
Can we show a little tolerance? Perhaps not mock others religious beliefs unless you really want to be mocked for your own. Even if like me you have no religious beliefs, just bite your tongue.

Why are you assuming any of us are Christian? Whatever gave you that notion? False and unwarranted assumption.
I don't see any reason to tolerate superstitious nonsense of any stripe. Yes, I believe most superstitious beliefs are silly.

I am assuming that you are Christian becaues it is both the predominate religion in the US and the predominate religion on this website. It is also, to the best of my knowledge, the predominate religion of english speaking people everywhere.
Statistically there are almost twice as many Christians as the next most popular religion Islam (2.1 billion vs 1.3 billion). And I doubt the comments came from Muslims. The next most popular "religion" is no-religion, followed by Hinduism, Chinese Folk Religion, Buddhism, Pagan, African Traditional, etc. Perhaps the above comments come from the non-religious. I doubt the comments come from Jews being as though they do not all follow the Kosher dietary guideline I find it odd they would mock another religion for finding pigs unclean.
So perhaps I was a little biased in my comments. But I did mention that even if you are non-religious like myself you should bite your tongue and respect others right to believe what they will.

"Respect others right to believe what they will"? Sure, anyone can believe anything that they like. There are people that believe the moon landings were fabricated and that the earth is flat. There are people that believe that virgin humans miraculously give birth and that people somehow become alive after death and are bodily carried up to "heaven".
I also have the right to call superstitious, irrational beliefs nonsensical.
Pigs are no more "unclean" than any other domesticated mammal. There is no objective basis for this belief.
