Having finished page 3 of my daughter's Life Book, I had pretty much told the story of how Alex came to be a part of our family in the first three pages -- and therefore, I was a bit stumped as to what the rest of the book should hold.  I started going through some more photographs...

... and then, actually quite by accident, came across one of the birth announcements I'd sent to friends and family announcing her birth.  And so, I discovered my theme for page four:  spreading the news.

I discussed the reasons we chose relatively traditional birth announcements in an earlier post -- basically, since Alex was only 2 days old when she came home to us, it made sense to send a birth announcement to family and friends.  Most knew we were adopting; those who didn't responded with an e-mail or a phone call, and we were able to tell them why they didn't know I was pregnant.  For families who choose an "adoption announcement" route, however, I think a "spreading the news" page would be equally appropriate -- my hope is that this expresses how excited we were to have our new daughter meet our friends and family.

So, for this page, I placed the birth announcement in the upper left corner, and then added photographs of Alex during her first week at home.  There are pictures of her meeting my parents, as well as close friends.  And then, though you can't see it, there's a tiny definition of "delight" that I found at the art supply store:  "intense happiness."

Certainly describes how we felt then, and continue to feel about Alex now.
