Felicity Huffman on 60 minutes
Categories: Celeb kids, Media
I don't
watch Desperate Housewives but since the very first episode, I've been drawn to Felicity Huffman's character
Lynette. When she told her children she had Santa's cellphone number and was not afraid to call and request underwear
in a (failed) attempt to make them behave. Oh God. Give me a minute, I'm feeling attracted to Ms. Huffman all
over again.I don't watch because my husband hates the show and also, I just don't care that much about the rest of the characters.
Today Meredith at Boston Mommy Blog shared a link to a 60 Minutes interview with Felicity Huffman who plays Lynette on Desperate Housewives. All I have to say is: Get over here Ms. Huffman....it's make out time.
My favorite quotes:
"In real life, she admits she is a harried mother. "Oh, yeah, I'm out of control. I spent yesterday out of control. I spent last night out of control," she says."
"Huffman has two little girls, but gives a surprising answer when asked if motherhood is the best experience in her life. "No, no, and I resent that question," Huffman says. "Because I think it puts women in an untenable position, because unless I say to you, 'Oh, Lesley, it's the best thing I've ever done with my whole life,' I'm considered a bad mother. And just when I said no you, you went back."
"Does she think she is a good mother? "I don't know if I'm a good mother," Huffman says. "You're not there enough or you're not patient enough or …" Stahl says. "I'm there enough. I don't know if I'm patient enough, though, you know, I don't know if I'm teaching them the right things," says Huffman."
Ms. Huffman, you need a blog. A....how do I say it....a Mommy Blog. Also you need to come over so we can make out.
*Updated to add, you can see a clip from the interview at Salon.com. Remember you have to watch a short advertisment to get into Salon for free. (Plus you can hear Lesley Stahl say 'Mommy' and it's never sounded more condescending.)

I love her too.
I love how honest she is about what it's like to be a mom. And how she doesn't presume to know what's best for anyone's kids just because she's a celebrity.
Kinda the polar opposite of Gwenneth Paltrow. Thank god.

Wow. If I didn't watch any show my husband hated I would never get to watch any television.

She's the main reason why I keep watching Desperate Housewives. Especially since they now have her character being the "breadwinner" and the husband stays home, which I completely identify with at the moment.

I found this blog because I was looking for a place to send Felicity Huffman a thank you note for being honest about being a mom! How great to know I'm not the only one who has no clue if I'm doing it right.
